…or the man in the Visa office
Last week I filled in the online forms to register for the Visa application process in order to get into India. Exciting! On the website it doesn’t really make it clear what to do once you’ve actually filled everything in, what to do with your passport and so on, so the executive decision was made to actually take myself to the Visa office…it just seemed easier.
Leaving Cambridge on the 9.20am train and arriving into London Liverpool at a spritely 10.45am meant that the 11am appointment at the Visa office in Victoria would most definitely be missed! But despite the lateness I set off towards Victoria. After making a few wrong train changes in the process I managed to get to the Visa office happy but nervous.
Once inside photos were taken in the special square photo booth (as in the photos are square…) and I spoke to one of the helpful desk clerks. The Visa forms had actually been filled in completely wrong, so it was probably a good thing that I’d made the trek to London!
In order to rectify the problems in form filling, I had to explain to the man behind the desk what exactly I was planning to do and for how long, and then get him to change sections of the application for me. Then, to prove the itinerary was legitimate, I had to find the nearest travel agent and get them to print of a booking request to show when and where I intended to travel to and from…phew, what a palava!
It was fine though, as once I’d done all of those things the lovely man helped me sort out the rest of the stuff and then explained what would happen next. Off to India!
