Whipsnade Zoo

We’re going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo. How about you?

Today Ems and I went to Whipsnade Zoo. It was so much fun.

There was a new section added to zoo since the last time I was here: Wild Wild Whipsnade. It’s a collection of all the animals that used to be alive and thriving wild in the UK. Nowadays most of them are endangered and currently none of them are wild in the UK: Brown Bear, Wolverine, European Lynx, Moose, Wild Boar, European Bison and Wolf.

We travelled around the Zoo with much excitement (and a little rain)…We sat and watched the animals of every continent.

At the Rhino enclosure we saw a snoring Rhino, which was very funny. And loud, and also quite smelly! I quite like a good Rhino. We came across an animal that I’d never heard of before: A Bongo. It’s like a strange antelope with funky antlers and stripes that you’d see in the areas of Africa that have dense forest type foliage. They’re very pretty.

I enjoyed the Reindeer enclosure. They all had huge antlers (so must have been female). Did you know that only the female Reindeer have antlers?

We saw Hippos, Lions and Cheetah, Cranes, Sheep and Mara, Giraffe and my favourite: Llamas!
