India: Red Fort & Old Delhi

I tried the Metro today. It cost a mere 12 Rupees (roughly about 15 pence I think), was air conditioned and very easy to use! The Metro in Delhi has special carriages for women only. It’s easy to notice that those carriages are pink.

Upon getting off of the Metro, I was immediately besieged by auto rickshaw drivers and cycle rickshaw drivers. In the end I was so fed up with telling them to go away that I just got on one round to the Red Fort.

I spent most of our afternoon there, wandering round the buildings and taking photos of the lovely architecture. People kept taking photos of me! Clearly i’m a big hit in India. LOL

After a little while I seriously noticed the heat and the humidity. There was no shade and I was sweating like a beast, I decided to head off and ended up in McDonald’s. It wouldn’t have been my first choice but it was cool and had food and drink.

I got an auto rickshaw home, but he got lost, and had to ask someone where to go. We paid him double though, as he wasn’t going to ask for anything extra. It was a nice little ride, all around the spice market!
