India: India Gate

Today I had breakfast at ‘Sam’s Café’ (very Indian…lol). I had Onion Rings and Chips and it took AGES to come! The onion rings were very nice; they were battered in the same sort of batter that onion bhaji come in back home.

I had planned to go to India Gate but the Auto Rickshaw man took me to the wrong place twice, so I got off in a huff and ended up walking from Janpath (a long road) which took a long time as it was very hot and  sticky.

India Gate is very big. It’s very grand and imposing to look at. It was full of Indian tourists taking photos, so I guess it’s a massive tourist sight. There were hundreds of children trying to sell bracelets and drinks, which got quite annoying after a while.

After this I went to Bikaner House on a fact finding mission to find out about busses to Jaipur. The bus leaves every hour and will take about 6 hours. Deciding that I’d come back tomorrow and get a bus, off I went to find Humayun’s Tomb. I ended up getting really rather lost and finding the zoo and an old mosque instead! It was a small part of a HUGE old building that looked sort of like a fort.

…I never did get to Humayun’s Tomb…
