The Saraswati Temple was my destination today. It’s a hilltop temple about an hours walk outside of Pushkar. I managed it in about that (I think). The Temple is up a LOT of stone steps and I was shattered when I got to the top. I did have to keep stopping at regular intervals as I went up! Along the way I met a lot of interested people. I even got a Bindi and Henna, and quite a lot of the people that I met along the way wanted their photos taken with me. I’ve never felt so special!
I decided yesterday that I would walk up to the Temple (it was recommended in the Lonely Planet). I was hoping that it would be overcast like yesterday, because then it wouldn’t be so hot to walk all that way, however, it was bright sunshine all the way to the top. Apart from the glowing sunburn I did manage to have quite a fun trek.
I began at about 11am and I walked out of the town and into the wilderness beyond. Its fairly obvious which route you need to take as you approach, there’s a little path up the mountain made of boulders. Someone must have put them there, but how on they got them there is anyone’s guess. Along the way I kept bumping into people, mostly families, that wanted their photo taken with me. I’m not sure why I’m such a novelty! Maybe it’s the pink hair.
When I got to the top a random lady started dancing, so I sort of started bobbing along too. The lady pulled me over to a man with a drum and we danced some more (this time with a huge audience of everyone at the temple). It was really fun!

On the way back down I decided to go sans-Converse, as they were making my feet so hot. This was okay until I realised that I had given myself a massive blood blister on my right big-toe. It actually really hurt! THEN after I’d put my shoes back on I tripped a little and twisted my ankle in a gap between some stones…thus proving that I really do have the agility of a three legged mountain goat…rubbish!
