The bus left at 5.15pm from Jaisalmer and on first glance it was actually quite nice: a double bed to sleep in and a great view…the bed was a little sweaty and full of sand but nothing a blanket can’t cover up!
However, after a few hours I began to feel a little sick, so tried to go to sleep. This just didn’t work, I felt so rubbish that my whole body was achy and clenchy. Eventually at 1am I was sick. But not just sick like any normal person, I was sick into the tiniest carrier bag known to man, then found that it had a hole in it and then had to fling it out of the window into the road because there were no bins on the bus. I felt like such an evil person.
I was sick again a little while later at 3am. Groan.
Once in Ahmedabad, after getting off of the bus pretty rapidly, I got an Auto-Rickshaw to a really rather lovely hotel: Hotel Volga, and spent the rest of the day groaning and feeling rubbish. I did end up watching some fab films though: Species II, Tremors and Alien VS Predator…fantastic!
The hotel, at ₨850 a night it is one of the more upmarket rooms that I have stayed at and is really nice! It has a plush double bed and a TV, with a hot (yes people, you heard me correctly…a hot) shower. tHE room even came with a newspaper…Plush!
