After sampling the fine sandwiches at ‘Café Coffee Day’ I ventured to the bus station where, luckily, I managed to get on a bus that was leaving very shortly for Mangalore. As I asked for the tickets, the conductor asked me if I wanted MANgalore or BANgalore. I wonder how many people end up on the wrong bus. It’s about 5 hours difference, Bangalore from Mysore takes three hours and Mangalore takes seven!
Once I was safely tucked in on the correct bus and enjoying my book, the time went really rather quickly! In no time at all I was pulling into the glorious bus station at Mangalore, staring in awe as I passed at least three shopping malls. With actual shops that I recognised! Yay : )
Unfortunately, I tried three hotels before I found one that had any affordable rooms. It’s a little grotty with a few bugs and a huge resident cockroach, but other than that it’s pleasant enough.
Once I had dumped my things into the room, I moseyed on over to the shopping mall across the road (yay) and looked for food. I ended up getting some various potato based snacks (potato wedges, potato chilli garlic bites and cheese vegetable bites). It was just like being at home on a weeknight when I can’t be bothered to cook properly!
I spent the rest of the day looking in the clothes shops and then at the cameras. I tried to find another mall as big as the one I’m opposite, but it wasn’t as nice, so I went back to my mall and looked around some more shops!
I got an early birthday present, a Canon G12 camera. It’s fabulous. The camera is a bridge camera, which means that it basically does most of the things that a DSLR does, but you can’t change the lens.
