Cambodai: Koh Ta Kiev

Instead of having a lovely Valentines meal and the usual, this year I went to a deserted island off of the coast of Sihanoukville.

It is called Koh Ta Kiev and takes only 40 minutes to get to by boat. I stayed in a basic hut which had neither doors, windows or walls. It was rustic beyond rustic 🙂

When I got to the island I was very impressed at how it isn’t that obvious that there are huts. They are hidden in amongst the foliage and unless you know they are there you just can’t notice them.

I spent the first day on the beach in front of the hut: most of the huts have their own little bit of beach in front, which was lovely. I tried to film the friendly crabs that kept scuttling up to me, but none of the pictures were very successful. I also went snorkeling amongst the minefield of Sea Urchins on the rocks surrounding the little cove. Thankfully I wasn’t eaten by any of them 🙂

The second day was spent pretty much doing nothing other than sunbathing and taking photos: my two favourite things. In the afternoon I explored the island and again took lots of photos…as I have said many times before, the photos say LOADS more than words.
