Vietnam: Vinpearl Land

Vinpearl Land is a sort of resort slash theme park on an island just across from the coast of Nah Trang…it was brilliant fun and I would highly recommend it! It costs 480,000 dong per person, and that includes the cable-car ride across to the island, Vinpearl Underwater World, Vinpearl Water Park and all of the shopping places and other attractions.

Vinpearl Underwater World

This aquarium covers an area of nearly 3,500 square meters and houses over 300 types of attractive, rare and odd looking fish. I had a fab time getting photos of some of the weird and wonderful creatures and travelling around under the ‘Main Tank’ on a funny little conveyor belt sort of thing.

My favorite bit was getting to see Stingrays and Turtles up close and personal! They were literally an inch away, on the other side of the glass…so amazing! I love any form of Ray, I think that when you look at them from underneath their mouths sort of look like a little happy face…

Vinpearl Water Park

Vietnam’s only on-the-beach freshwater park is THE place to be if you are in Nah Trang. I was skeptical; would it just be a few little tame slides for children? No! It was brilliant: a wave pool, a lazy river and loads of different kinds of water slides to keep you occupied for hours!

When I first arrived, I put all of my stuff in a locker and then went on all of the slides!

Off I went with the ‘Multislides’ being the first stop: you go down on your tummy on a little mat, holding your arms out in front of you…I managed to whack myself in the face with the handles, giving myself a right mouth-ache: an excellent start.

Next were ‘Kamikaze’ slides next: two slides, two colors, two extremes. One of the slides is literally a drop and the other is a series of shorter drops…needless to say I didn’t go on this one!

Next up was the interestingly named ‘Tsunami Slide’, where you get into a rubber ring and you get launched off into a sort of water version of a half-pipe…this had me screaming ‘Oh blimey’ all the way to the drop off pool. It was really fun though, I was sure that I was going to fall out of the rubber ring but it was fine!

As I walked onwards I heard a siren. Now everybody knows that when you are at a water park a siren means that the wave pool has started…so I rushed to get a rubber ring and went into the pool…only to catch about two minutes of the waves…never mind, it was a good two minutes.

The lazy river at Vinpearl has to be the longest (so I guess laziest) Lazy River that I have ever seen, it went on for AGES! There was a strange tunnel section that was actually sort of scary, I did feel slightly like I was venturing into a part of the park that we weren’t supposed to be in…

The park is right on the beach, so I took the obvious choice and went for a swim in the sea. I didn’t really swim far! I think maybe about 200 metres and then got out again!

The last thing were the ‘Rafting Slides’, a series of four different slides that you go down in a rubber ring.

At this point food was needed!
