Ems and Bex on Tour: Ems has arrived!

After a tense 27 hours following her progress on the online flight tracking sites, we are pleased to announce that Emma Goodwin has arrived in New Zealand, via Dubai and Sydney, in one whole piece!

I spent the morning running errands and clearing my room so that Ems is accommodated. Therefore, the morning flew by extremely quickly and I was soon on the bus to Miramar en-route to Wellington Airport and Ems. I followed the ‘Arrivals’ board and knew that she was entering through Gate 27, but couldn’t get completely up to it, so I waited with all of the other excited relatives in the Departure Lounge.

I could see that there were three flights arriving into the airport at the same time, so kept an eye out for people with ‘Qantas’ luggage tags: the first flight that landed was an ‘Air New Zealand’ flight, then our ‘Qantas’ flight and then an ‘Emirates’ flight, so I was hopeful that she wouldn’t be too long…oh how wrong I was!

I guess that when three international flights land in the airport within a short space of time there are going to be queues simply from the sheer weight of traffic! In total I waited about an hour from when the plane landed to when I actually saw Ems coming through the sliding doors. I was so excited to actually be seeing her that I ran up to Ems and threw my arms around her a-la-Love Actually, tears streaming down my face.

I’m not sure that Ems knew exactly what was happening at first!

After a few minutes of happy hugs and kisses, we left in a taxi, headed for Willis Street and my tidy little room. Ems seemed happy with the first few sights of Wellington, which is good!

Once we’d dumped Emma’s luggage and had a cup of tea(!), we ventured down Cuba Street and down to the Waterfront to see what was happening in Wellington: It’s currently the International IRB World Sevens Series so the city is a little chaotic at the moment.

We discovered a big screen with the England vs New Zealand match and we stood and watched England get thrashed! Following a quick amble to the Westpac Stadium for a few photos of people dressed up, we returned to our room and had a feast of Mexican food. Yum.

It’s lovely to have Emma here; I’ve really been looking forward to her visit.

She told me that her friends Maddie and Bev had written letters for her to read on the plane, so I had a look whilst she was in the shower and instantly wanted to part of the fun! They have given her challenges to complete whilst here, such as taking as many photos with Sheep as possible and taking loads of selfies. Oh the fun!
