Ems and Bex on Tour: Auckland Zoo & Waterfront

After getting up early to move the Big Rig, we went in search of breakfast before heading to the outskirts of the city and the Zoo. It was all very easy to work with apart from a horrendous set of traffic lights which we sat at for ages before deciding that we’d find another way around!

Auckland Zoo is very large, with spacious enclosures and a wide variety of animals. Ems and I love a good Zoo, so we were both in our element today as we trotted around like children!

At one point Ems did get pooped on…this is payback for Paris (we went a few years ago and she papped me getting pooped on) which was quite funny.

It was lovely to go to a zoo like this: spacious and the animals are obviously very well cared for.

Once out of the Zoo we decided to take our hire car back. I still cannot believe that a company can rent a vehicle out to you and all you pay for is the fuel, it’s bonkers! We drove over 600 km and the only cost was the $80.00 of diesel that we put into it. Brilliant. I guess you take a big gamble with what you get, but we were happy.

After a final goodbye to the Machine, Ems and I walked to the Waterfront and had a good mooch around, having a good look around the marina-like shoreline. I am very impressed with it; there are lots of interesting bars, restaurants and cafes and lots of lovely looking buildings.
