So this weekend I bought a Snowboard. It’s EPIC and I love it…I couldn’t wait to use it…

Waking on Sunday morning at 5am I was all ready to conquer Turoa (which so far I hadn’t been to), new snowboard in hand…unfortunately I had to go it alone…so off I drove and arrived in Turoa at 10.00 and ready for a day of Snowboarding ๐
My first experience of the baby slopes at Turoa were very good. The first area, Alpine Meadow, is small with two distinct sections: one main, gradually sloping section, where the lessons are held, and another off to the side, where there are a few small humps. The area has a magic carpet lift and one of those pull-lifts…I tried the pull-lift and ended up on my bum! Next I ventured to the Wintergarden, which is a small area a little further up the volcano. It has a wide area to practice on and then merges with a longer beginners track called Clary’s Track.
I had a good go on the longer track and was very proud of myself for getting down it and back to the cafe using my mad snowboarding skills ๐
After a quick drink break, I went up to the longer track again, however, this time I was a little too eager and ended up flying majestically through the air…like an Elephant piloting a blimp. I caught the back of my board on a bottle caught in the snow and flew through the air, landing on the rocks on my left bottom cheek, flipped over and then rolled a few times…it was really painful.
So the moral of the story is not to overdo it!
I did manage to drive home and I went to bed feeling a little tender. When I got up in the morning I went to work as normal, but once I got there and chatted to my workmates, they persuaded me to go to A&E…and i’ve sprained my neck, my bottom and my right elbow…so not so good!
