As is now tradition, I ran the Round the Bays race 🙂

This year I completed the 10km race and I feel somewhat improved since last year (2014 I attempted the 1/2 marathon and failed…2015 I attempted the 10km)!
Last year I ran and walked, like a sort of stop-go interval training thing, the whole way, taking around 1 hour and 17 minutes…this year I ran pretty much the entire way and it took me 1 hour and 11 minutes. Obviously the time hasn’t improved very much, however, the fact that I actually ran most of the way (i think i may have walked for about 1 minute of the entire race) was a vast improvement. I am very pleased with myself and my stamina and my general fitness (clearly the gym and PT sessions are paying off).
There were a few of us running together (at least to start with) in a team…We’re ‘Running on Empty’ and i feel that is an apt name as I know at least four of us in the team have done minimal training!
As we stood at the start line waiting for the buzzer to go off, I was thinking to myself, “Why on earth do I sign up for these things?! It’s half past eight in the morning and looks like its about to heave down…and I’m running in tiny shorts and a vest top to see if I can make 10km without stopping…its madness I tell you.”
Elliot, being the most able of all of us, and the most trained, ran on ahead of us straight away and ended up completing the race in a brilliant 55 mins. I think that’s a really excellent race time 🙂

James and I ended up with a time of 1 hr 11 min, so not too horrendous.
