Today Jeane/Gene (our white chicken) went back to Staglands and we came home with Lettuce (another white chicken).
The long-short story is that we bought Jeane a few months ago from Staglands to replace Enid, who we had to put down. We weren’t sure at the time if we had a boy chicken (Rooster) or a girl chicken(Hen).
We have since found out through a week of early morning wake-up calls, that we have a boy chicken, and thus had to take the chicken back to Staglands and swap it out for another chick.
Wellington bylaws state that you cannot have a Rooster in an urban area without permission..which makes sense, but it really sucks to give your chicken away.
Anyway, we have decided to call this one Lettuce. She’s so small compared to Ziltoid, who is now pretty much fully grown. They seem a little apprehensive to be near each other, but so far so good…we’ll see how we go with this one!
Fingers and toes crossed that Lettuce is a Hen!!!
