Our Perfect Wedding

We got married!

After a long period of deliberation, James and I decided that if we didn’t just go and do it, we’d never get married. As Covid has pretty much screwed up this years plans for anything even remotely interesting, we decided to push out the wedding…and then pushed it out again…ending up with a date set for the 9th April 2022. That seemed a LONG time away, but hey-ho, what can you do when there’s a global pandemic going on?!

After the first lockdown, we went out for dinner and were both agreed that it would be really nice to just go and get married…and then it dawned on the both of us…why not just go and do it?! So we did.

So, on 7th November 2020, James and I became Mr & Mrs!

The day was really chilled, which was actually quite unexpected. I honestly thought that there would be SOMETHING to worry about, but actually there wasn’t. The day was perfect and I think we both enjoyed it more than we thought that we would.

We started the wedding by meeting our friends at the bottom of the Cable Car and travelling up together, then walking through the Botanical Gardens and down to the Duck Pond, where we had booked to get married. The weather was good, everyone was in good form, and it went without an hiccups.

The ceremony itself went really quickly. The celebrant talked a little bit about marriage and then my friend Nicky read out a poem that she had brought. James and I read out a poem, then said our vows and took part in the hand fastening and that was it; we were married!

After the service, we walked back up to the top of the Botanical Gardens with our guests and had coffee and cake in the café. We had some photos taken and then travelled back down on the Cable Car together. Some of our guests left us at this point, and the rest of us walked along the waterfront and then went for Gin and drinks and then food together. El Matador was epic for our food 🙂 We ended the evening with a wedding reception at the Library Bar.
