Beki studies things: Photography

Since I bought myself a new camera, and subsequently realised that I probably need to learn how to use it more effectively, I have been thinking about doing some further study. After having a look at all of my options, I realised that I could study online through a Polytechnic down on the South Island.

They have a Level 5 Diploma in Photography that is made up of the following courses:

Compulsory

  • NZDP100: Introduction to Digital Photography
  • NZDP101: Introduction to Digital Post-Production
  • NZDP102: Photographic Design
  • NZDP105: Digital Photography
  • NZDP106: Digital Post-Production
  • NZDP107: Professional Practice
  • NZDP108: Digital Photography Portfolio

Electives

  • NZDP103: Auteur Studies
  • NZDP104: Media and Imagery

I am really excited to be starting the first course next week!

The first course that I’m taking is NZDP100: Introduction to Digital Photography.

According to the course information I will learn all about how to use a digital camera and how to actually take a good photo. I’ll also be exploring all of the key principles involved in photography such as framing and composition, how to take photos using the manual controls on the camera, and how to understand lighting.

It all sounds quite fun actually, and I’m really looking forward to it.
