This week I read a lot!
Week 3
The course materials this week went through elements such as selective focus, manual focus, built in flash, and accessories. I’ve never thought about focus more than that ideally a photo needs to have certain parts in focus. Lol. I was excited to put these learnings into practice.
As the discussion board activities required me to take a range of photos, I had to learn about how best to achieve this. I had to read up on hyperfocal distance, and also how to get a good photo using long exposure. These were things I’d never done before, so it was interesting to read up on the various different articles that explain (some quite badly) how to get there!
Discussion Board 2
Here you can see my photo submissions for this week:
- A landscape photo with foreground interest, making sure the foreground interest and the background are in focus.
- A portrait of a friend or family member focusing on the eyes.
- An architecture shot in low light (during the night or the early evening) allowing you to set the camera up for a long exposure – with movement shown.
This was, technically, an assessed task. I received an A-
I would have received higher marks had I ‘…captured more emotion’ from James…I didn’t have the attitude to reply to the tutor and tell him that this is what James looks like all of the time.
