Photography: Week 5 & 6

Busy. Busy. Busy!

Week 5

This week had me studying for the one and only online test in the course. It was an open book test (thank goodness) and was all about the main concepts discussed so far. At first I had to really think about the questions, but then I remembered that I could look back through the learning materials for the bits I was unsure about, so overall it wasn’t overly painful.

Week 6

This week I did a lot of reading up on monochrome images!

The discussion board brief was to ‘experiment with B&W photography’. So I experimented and decided that I’m quite a fan of black and white images. It seems to make all of my photos look really good, with only monochrome or black and white, the image really pops out. It removes a lot of the distraction from the image.

I also got my online quiz results back this week: 21/21. Woohoo!

Discussion Board 4 and Assignment A

Here you can see my photo submissions for this week:

  • Black and White photography
  • Assignment A: Portrait
Discussion Board 4: Herman in black and white.
Assignment A: Portrait (James).

I’m really happy with the way that this photo came out. James is actually smiling! I had to set the tripod up to get a clear image of him, but I set it up and played around with the light and the angle of the camera until I found a position that worked.
