Meerkat experience

James and I got married last year (incase you’re not aware), and one of the gifts that we took a while to use was a Meerkat Experience at Wellington Zoo. Today we went and had that experience and it was lovely!

The zookeeper took us into a little hut and explained that we have to remain sat down the entire time, and that we have to wear masks and not to touch them etc.

Once in there, we sat on our little bench and the meerkats immediately edietly started clambering over us to get to the food that had been placed on another bench near to us. It was so cute. They’re really small and soft looking but up close you get to see that they have a lot of very sharp teeth and very long sharp claws…so i wasn’t grabbing for any of them!

They were very interested in the food and were all crawling over each other to get to it.

And they make the wierdest noises! Like a little sort of grunty growl.
