Thermomix Demo

Last night I went to a Thermomix Demo with James, my husband and my good friend Roz. An old work friend, Aishu is just beginning a new role as a Thermomix Consultant and we were all very excited to learn more:

  • James had used one before, but a long time ago and back home in Ireland.
  • I’d seen one many moons ago but never used it.
  • Roz had heard of Thermomix and seen one, but never in action.

So we were a good group to demo to, as we came with some expectations but not many!

So what is Thermomix?

Thermomix is a kitchen appliance which basically does everything in the kitchen for you. In terms of functions, you get the ability to sear, chop, steam, stir, crush, grate, mix, emulsify, pulverise, whip, whisk and cook, all with precision temperature. Then it can also blend, caramalise, knead, ferment, warm up, slow cook, thicken, weigh, boil an egg, and cook your rice. All in the same appliance. Phew!

So why Thermomix? I’ll let Aishu tell you.

I have fallen in love with this incredible smart and connected kitchen appliance which has saved time, energy, money, and everything home made.

The Demo

The three of us travelled to Aishu’s home where we started the evening with introductions and a basic Q&A about what we already knew about the brand and the appliance itself.

It turns out that we were all really excited about seeing the Thermomix in action!

Aishu gave a short presentation about the brand and we watched a video about the history of Thermomix in Australia and New Zealand, and then we got straight into it!

We made three dishes:

  • Almond milk
  • Vegetable curry
  • Beetroot salad

Each dish was easy to make, as the actual Thermomix tells you what to do each step of the way. It’s like having an iPad next to you with the interactive recipe that you’re following along with, but it’s IN the appliance. It even linked through to the timer, scales and the blade speed settings.

The almond milk required a bit of pre soaking, so Aishu had already done that step (they needed soaking for 2+ hours), this meant that I could just jump straight into combining the ingredients in the Thermomix and actually making almond milk. It was SO easy! I literally popped water, almonds and a little bit of vanilla essence into the bowl and then it prompted me to set the blade speed and off it went. After a few minutes it was done and we strained the milk through a clean tea-towel and we had the milk. It tasted lovely!

The curry and beetroot salad were equally as easy. Again the little in-built in recipe book explained each step and it was very easy to get a full meal, quickly, and with surprisingly little mess.

Thats what I was most impressed with actually, the way that there was next to no mess. Also the speed of getting a full on meal. It’s just so easy!
