Christmas 2021

Santa has been and it’s great πŸ™‚

We begun the day with a 5km ParkRun – our first one in about 6 months! I was not prepared and didn’t manage to run the entire thing, but that’s okay and I aim to work on this in the New year! It was a bit of a shock to the system if i’m being completely honest…

We haven’t been running AND we haven’t been getting up particularly early AND I had to run in my trail running trainers (my running trainers have seen better days) AND the route is currently two laps of the same track (which I just can’t get motivated for)…so overall it was a struggle but we DID both finish and get a recorded time.

* Didn’t notice James’ eyes were shut until I uploaded the one photo we took…

Returning home, we had our breakfast on the deck with bubbles and then got dressed and opened presents. It was a nice chilled out morning.

I bought James a range of goodies; he asked for a new pair of Converse and a new Adidas hoody, as well as a bike bell and a few shoe horns, socks and a Terry’s Chocolate Orange. He got these, as well as a few other little (and not so little) bits; a Judas Priest t-shirt, more socks, Bruce Dickinson’s Biography, Friends cards for Trivial Pursuit, and a little bit more.

Santa bought me a load of new face masks, hair ties, LuluLemon undies (woohoo), a dress (which I am wearing in some pictures down below), a little bag for Peggy to wear on her harness to carry poo bags, eye cream, hand cream, a ‘SheWee’ (hahahahahaha) and then I got three amazing ‘experiences’; a voucher for a new tattoo, tickets to the haunted house experience on Cuba Street, AND a one hour stargazing experience over in the Wairarapa…which is what I had bought James too – I was so smug thinking that I had managed to get a really cool, creative and unusual gift for him! Great minds think alike I guess?!

I bought myself some new pjs. I knew that this year no-one was going to get me any, and I was feeling up for a pyjama cull, so my old, slightly worn, pjs will go to goodwill and I have instead bought ‘loungewear’ rather than pjs…I couldn’t tell you the difference between pjs and loungewear…other than that loungewear just seems to be pjs that are more socially acceptable to wear outside…

We also got the boardgames version of Jumanji, and lots of chocolate and treats.

The dogs got a full basket of toilet roll inners! We’ve been saving them all year. The dogs LOVED them.

Christmas Dinner was at our friends Tim and Roz’s house. We decided to cycle to their house with our cycle trailer full of gifts and booze. It took twice as long, but was a very good idea because it meant that we didn’t need to worry about driving home or getting an ΓΌber on Christmas Day.

It was hilarious all the way there, with the clinking bottles and everyone walking past thinking we had kids in there. Ha!

The rest of the day was lovely too. Roz made the main part of Christmas dinner and we all brought various bits. I was on pudding duty. I made eight little Christmas Pudding/Christmas Cake hybrids (which everyone appeared to love), as well as a trifle.

Tim and Roz bought James and myself an amazing gift – a mushroom growing kit. It comes as a weird bag full of what looks like sawdust, but actually it has everything that you need to grown some shrooms (not the funky kind I hasten to add). I will post regular updates πŸ™‚

Our friends Hayley and Chris got us some awesome pillow cases – One says ‘Mr’ and the other says ‘Mrs’. I can’t wait to pop them on!

So Christmas 2021 has been good. Lets do it again next year πŸ™‚
