Things I am loving this month: January

I’ve decided to change it up a bit this year ๐Ÿ™‚

Instead of doing a ‘things I’m loving this week’ post every week, I have decided to do them monthly. I am quite busy and I feel like I’m not able to keep up with posting them weekly, so monthly it is.

Things I am loving this last few weeks:

  • New Year, new me…hahaha!
  • The weather has been lovely.
  • I have been taking photos, but not all of them have been digital.

A New Year brings a new outlook on life, or something like that!

Since starting a secondment at work (to work as a PLD instead of just an LD), I have felt a bit of a fire under my bum! For a long time I was resistant to a promotion as the Principal Learning Designer role always seemed a bit much for me. However, this year I have really felt the need to develop myself at work. I’m not sure what has brought this on, but I want to be better, to develop myself more and to learn.

I want to better myself in other aspects of my life too. I’m studying and I’m trying to be healthier and fitter.

In February I will start the next paper of the Diploma that I’m studying (New Zealand Diploma in Photography, Lv.5), NZDP101 Digital Post Production. It means that I have to learn to use Photoshop! Scary! But I am trying to better myself and that is a good thing ๐Ÿ™‚

Healthier and fitter, for me, means less snacking. I am terrible, it doesn’t take much for me to demolish an entire pack of biscuits in an evening – and that is just not very good for me! Therefore I am trying really hard to not snack, and to just have my meals and if I feel the need to have something in between, it’s nuts or one of those date and nut balls. So far it’s going reasonably well, I just need to work out the right amount of breakfast and lunch so that I’m not completely starved by dinner!

Before we went back to work, James and I went camping and spent time doing things out in the sunshine. Its been lovely – I even got James out along the waterfront in Wellington on a pair of roller blades. I rented a pair of roller blades too, but it just didn’t really feel right now that I’m so used to roller derby!

I recently bought a new Instax camera – an Instax Mini Evo. Basically its like a sort of hybrid between an instamatic camera and a digital camera. So the camera takes a photo and then you have to tell it which ones to actually print.

I bought a new type of film for it as well, contact sheet! It’s black with contact sheet text on it. The images look really cool ๐Ÿ™‚
