Things I am loving this month: February

Things I am loving this last few weeks:

  • Studying again
  • Our paddling pool
  • Sewing
  • Spirited Women Adventure Race: Cancelled

Now it’s February I have started the second paper of the Diploma that I’m studying (Lv.5 Diploma in Photography), which is NZDP101 Digital Post Production.

It means that I have to learn to use Photoshop which I am less than keen to do – but I think it’s probably good for me to broaden my skillset as I’m truly shocking at Photoshop.

The course has only just started, so I’m not sure how well I’m going to do, but I am hopeful that I will be able to study and learn some skills.

Before we went back to work, James and I tried to buy a paddling pool. We couldn’t find one, but now that the weather is quite frankly volcanic, lovely James went out and found one for me (us).

We did try the dogs in it, but quite predictably they didn’t really like it. The first time I don’t think they really know what to do. Herman just stood there, his tail above the water, wagging, but his body just sort of rigid. Peggy jumped about, but inevitably only stayed in for about 10 seconds before jumping out.

I tried them both in a few more times, but once they realised that they could jump out, they didn’t want to stay in.

I had good fun though, sitting in my bikini and reading with a glass of Coke.

I have got my sewing machine back out again.

I love sewing, but when my brain is busy at work, or I am stressed, I don’t often feel like it, because it’s quite taxing for me as I’m not yet very good. So I tend to leave it for those times when I’m feeling great.

I’m currently trying a few dresses and a skirt – it’s the hemming that is the issue! I just can’t seem to get it right…

I was due to take part in the Spirited Women’s Adventure Race towards the end of the month, near Napier. However, as the country is still in some sort of semi lockdown (red traffic light), they postponed the event until later in the year when people can move a bit more freely, and the event doesn’t have so many restrictions.

Personally I feel like it was the best choice, because for parts of the race we would have had to worn masks. I’m all for following the rules, but I think for events like this, it’s quite unappealing to have to be wearing a mask when we’re already going to be out of breath, sweaty and quite possibly a bit grumpy.

Also, we haven’t managed to train well yet!
