Things I am loving this last few weeks:
- New Plants
- Dressmaking
- New shoes
- Red Rocks in the Jimny
- Doggy playdates

Plants
A friend from work was kind enough to give me LOADS of cuttings and plants to repot. I ended up with an Elephant Ear Begonia, a Fiddle Leaf Fig, a few Monstera plants, a Pathos (I think that is how you spell it), two different types of hanging plant and three sizes of Peace Lily.
What a lovely person!
Dressmaking
I took a dressmaking course (about three years ago…it was in 2019…) and never ended up finishing the dress. I only had the zip to add and the hem to do…but I sort of had the fear and it never got finished.
This month though, it got finished!
I’ve even started a few other little projects to help with my sewing skills ๐
New shoes
A while ago, Herman ate a really nice pair of my Doc Marten shoes. I have wanted to replace them but haven’t found any that I like enough…however, now I have found the right pair; the 8065 Mary Jane. They’re so pretty ๐
They go with EVERYTHING!
Off-Roading in the Jimny
James and I took the Jimny offroad. It was SOOOO much fun!
There is a nice beachy section of the edge of Wellington. It’s called ‘Red Rocks’ because it has…you guessed it…red rocks (which i actually did not realise until this trip). There are walking tracks and a 4×4 track. People also go cycling there.
It was absolutely hilarious driving and sliding about in the sand and the stones. We had to stop and turn around when we got to a particularly lumpy bit. It was hilarious though – I had to reverse round a blind corner. Twice. I nearly drove off the edge of a verge, and I almost reversed the car into a lumpy bit of grass verge. But it was great fun.
Doggy Playdates
A friend at work recently got a Labradoodle and I invited them round to play with my dogs. Oh my goodness, it was adorable ๐
My friends dog, Janine, is currently the same size as Herman and Peggy are fully grown at 13 weeks! She’s going to be a lovely dog. She was a bit scared at first, but once she’d got used to the liveliness, she was playing with both Schnauzers and giving as good as she could get.
I hope we get to see more of her ๐
One thing I’m not loving…
Bronchitis!
It started as a bad headache that I couldn’t shift…but I just put it down to stress. Then it kind of went away again. However, coming back with a vengeance and I thought that I might have either flu or Covid…either one not ideal!
In the end I had to go the doctor, who informed me that it was Bronchitis. Groan. I had Bronchitis a few years ago and it really buggered up my lungs This time it’s been the generic aches and pains and headache, coupled with the cough and trouble breathing…and a raw throat. Thats the bit that bugs me the most, It’s been so painful!
