Dirt Duathlon 2

This weekend James and I took part in our second Dirt Duathlon.

It was hard…but not as hard as the first one!

Having done one of these already, we were much better organised! We made sandwiches and packed energy sachets, we had water and we had better map reading skills!

What is a Dirt Duathlon?!
With the Dirt Duathlon series you have teams of 2, 3 or 4 people and you navigate to markers over three legs: navigation on foot, on mountain bike, and then on foot again.
It’s set in a clover leaf style, so each leg has you locating markers that you check into. After each leg of the race you come back to a Hub where you check in and set off for the next leg.

This time we ventured to Battle Hill, Wellington. As you can see from the photos it was another cold, muddy and wet day!

This time around the cycling bit got to me! I had had enough after about ten minutes of pushing my bike up near vertical terrain. I got a bit tired of climbing over the fences, so I decided to go through one of them. James caught a photo as I went through and it’s clear to me now that I am neither as slender or as graceful as I had thought I was…

But it was a very fun day. We finished this time – last time we ran out of time and missed the last four markers.
