Beki Makes Things: I made a dress!

This evening James and I attended the AECOM Christmas Function in Wellington. It was held at the Boat Shed on the waterfront. It was all very exciting and we had a great evening. I made the dress! I made the dress that I wore to the party completely from scratch! It fits me. I woreContinueContinue reading “Beki Makes Things: I made a dress!”

Beki Makes Things: I love sewing but it’s incredibly stressful!

There’s really something quite lovely about taking an idea and then making it into a real thing. I’ve always loved making things and I thought I’d found my ‘thang’ with crochet, and then knitting…and then I discovered sewing. My goodness its frustrating and stressful. But also exciting and nerve wracking, pleasant, soothing and mesmerizing.  All atContinueContinue reading “Beki Makes Things: I love sewing but it’s incredibly stressful!”

OPRS Appointment

Following on from my (many) appointments with the ENT, Audiologist and various other medical professionals, I was given an appointment with the ‘Older Persons and Rehabilitation Service’ Initially, my first thoughts were (in no particular order): “Older persons! Sapporo

New Years Day had us learning how trains work in Japan! We got a train from Niseko to Kutchan, another from Kutchan to Otaru and then finally, one more from Otaru to Sapporo. Phew! It sounds like hard work, but actually was no harder than getting the bus into town 🙂 It’s organised chaos but it works. At Niseko Station,ContinueContinue reading “Sapporo”

Snowboarding!

After our long journey to Japan, our visit to the ski fields was fantastic; we stayed in two gorgeous, snow emersed hotels and had a lot of fun together in the snow.  After one night in a capsule hotel, The Lodge Annapuri, we had to move on to our proper hotel for the remainder of our visit: Pension Tomten. ContinueContinue reading “Snowboarding!”

Getting to Niseko

This year James and I went all out on a big adventure and travelled to Japan for the festive season (and Seoul too, but you’ll hear more about that later). It exceeded all expectations and I most certainly want to go back. As soon as possible! There was snow and ice, winds that shut downContinueContinue reading “Getting to Niseko”

Zealandia

Today we went to Zealandia with James’s sister Jane (she’s in NZ on holiday). As I’d never been (well not properly), I thought it might be fun 🙂 We started in the cafe with Jane’s NZ friends and a healthy brunch! Zealandia has paths all round with walks, easy hikes and harder hikes. We chose the ‘recommended route’ whichContinueContinue reading “Zealandia”
