Blogging my life was originally all about keeping my parents in the loop. I told them where I was in the world and what I was doing there, and this meant that (hopefully) they would worry less. It has morphed into something else completely now.
It started with a one-way ticket to New Delhi, India, and a bit of a sense of humour failure! I hadn’t expected to enjoy backpacking quite so much. I thought i’d just get a ticket back home after a couple of weeks and return to the classroom, but I loved it and I stayed; eventually travelling through India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, back to Thailand again and finally ending up in New Zealand – where I’ve been ever since!
And that is, something that I really enjoy doing, something that keeps me thinking and something that people hopefully enjoy reading – although I won’t try to convince you that I’m the most interesting person in the world!
New Year Update
As we begin the new year I am going to take a step back from blogging. I know I haven’t been blogging THAT regularly, but it takes a big chunk of my time and I’m not giving it my all. I hope that I will blog a little bit…but I don’t think my posts will…

Things I am loving this last few weeks: Studio Sasada ConcertEvery year the music school that I attend has a concert. Each student is supposed to take part somehow, and this year I was playing drums on the song Black Velvet – last year was ‘Everywhere’ by Fleetwood Mac. I was petrified, as the drum…
The IronMan Diaries / Change Fitness Pie Ride
The Pie Ride is an event that Change Fitness organise every year where the participants cycle around the Wairarapa and then they meet up at the end and get a pie. Normally there are two distances: 100km and 50km. This year, however, they only organised for the 50km cycle. I managed to cycle the 50km…well…
The IronMan Diaries: 7
This week it was cycling and running. We started off with a warm up of easy riding on the flat roads between Change HQ and Seaview. We cycled along the road until we got to an area of the Industrial Area that was flat and where we could do circuits. The circuits consisted of an…

Things I am loving this last few weeks: Taupo MarathonThis is an event that I have never taken part in, so James and I decided to give it a go. As we’re deep into training for the IronMan events, it’s probably a good idea to go for as many races and events as we can.…
Things I am loving this month: July
I usually do a ‘Things I am loving’ each month. However, this month has been hectic. I haven’t managed to get anything on paper (on digitally), and I haven’t actually done anything of note…so this month it’s not a really interesting blog with pictures or words… And that is okay!
The IronMan Diaries: 6
This week it was JUST cycling. And it was FREEZING. The area that we were cycling in was really pretty. I want to come back on another chilly winters morning and take photos across the stream. We started off with a warm up riding from Avalon Duck Pond to Trentham. Then we cycled a 2km…
The IronMan Diaries: 5.5
Tonight I absolutely NAILED my swimming lesson. Which has made me think about my progress. When I first started the TriSquad swimming lessons, I felt slow and useless. Everyone was WAY better than me and it really bothered me because I didn’t think I was THAT bad…but I was, and it was a bit shit.…

Wellington Marathon: 10km
I ran my first 10km where I nether hated it, nor struggled. I have run 10km before, but this was the first time that I didn’t actively hate it. Quite the opposite actually! I enjoyed it. Before now my focus was to get a good time. This left me strained and annoyed at myself for…
England | Ireland | England | Singapore
I have just got home from a wonderful, busy, lively, happy trip with James. As his parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year, they invited the family to come and spend a long weekend with them in a small country resort on the outskirts of Cork. EnglandAs I had recently seen my parents,…
ParkRun: Singapore Style
Today my husband and I swapped Trentham ParkRun for East Coast Park in Singapore…it was moist! I really don’t think I have ever been so sweaty. I really do mean that. Singapore is another level of wet! James managed to run the entire 5km, I however couldn’t manage anything more than a spritely waddle. It…
