Today we put up our Christmas Tree. Agatha isn’t sure about it…she keeps sitting under it and sort of looking at it.Scribble doesn’t care. She hasn’t seemed to notice that there is anything different about the hallway. Neither of the cats will have seen a Christmas Tree before, as i’ve not put one up inContinueContinue reading “Agatha and the Christmas Tree”

Beki Makes Things: I made a dress!
This evening James and I attended the AECOM Christmas Function in Wellington. It was held at the Boat Shed on the waterfront. It was all very exciting and we had a great evening. I made the dress! I made the dress that I wore to the party completely from scratch! It fits me. I woreContinueContinue reading “Beki Makes Things: I made a dress!”
Beki Makes Things: I love sewing but it’s incredibly stressful!
There’s really something quite lovely about taking an idea and then making it into a real thing. I’ve always loved making things and I thought I’d found my ‘thang’ with crochet, and then knitting…and then I discovered sewing. My goodness its frustrating and stressful. But also exciting and nerve wracking, pleasant, soothing and mesmerizing. All atContinueContinue reading “Beki Makes Things: I love sewing but it’s incredibly stressful!”
Family Photo
Today I needed a family photo to take to my NZSL class. In order to do this I needed to get both cats in the photo…not as easy as it seems. Scribble doesn’t like to be picked up, and Agatha won’t sit still…needless to day it was a bit of a challenge.
OPRS Appointment
Following on from my (many) appointments with the ENT, Audiologist and various other medical professionals, I was given an appointment with the ‘Older Persons and Rehabilitation Service’ Initially, my first thoughts were (in no particular order): “Older persons! Bloody cheek!”“Rehabilitation…hmmm…what am I rehabilitating from?”“That must mean things like random age related hearing loss…”“Older persons…I’m not old.” That beingContinueContinue reading “OPRS Appointment”
H A Day
At first I just blamed James for mumbling and didn’t think anything else of it, but as it turns out, there IS something wrong with my hearing. Today is D-Day…well that should probably be HA-Day: Hearing Aid Day…today I get my first pair of hearing aids. Now that I’m over the initial shock of itContinueContinue reading “H A Day”
Zealandia
Today we went to Zealandia with James’s sister Jane (she’s in NZ on holiday). As I’d never been (well not properly), I thought it might be fun 🙂 We started in the cafe with Jane’s NZ friends and a healthy brunch! Zealandia has paths all round with walks, easy hikes and harder hikes. We chose the ‘recommended route’ whichContinueContinue reading “Zealandia”
Beach walking
Today James and I got out in the sunshine and walked along the beach at Pukerua Bay.
New Years Road Trip
James and I took an epic road-trip over the North Island for the holidays. 27th December: Wellington-Taupo Getting up and beginning a road-trip with the worst hangover I think i’ve ever had was not a very good idea! Poor James had to do all of the driving for the whole day as I felt pretty shocking. At one point we were walking round K-Mart in PalmerstonContinueContinue reading “New Years Road Trip”
Christmas 2016
We began Christmas with a huge food spread, yesterday, courtesy of Blayne and Lisa. There was sooooo much food. There were so many different types of cheese, crackers and spreads and I think I might have eaten my entire body weight in cheese! Christmas morning I was told – in no uncertain terms – not to wake James up before 8am…so of course I wokeContinueContinue reading “Christmas 2016”
