Boudhanath is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Kathmandu. It is about 11 km (6.8 m) from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu. Apparently it is one of the largest stupas in Nepal…i think also maybe in the world. In 1979 it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with Swayambhunath, it is one of the most popular tourist sites inContinueContinue reading “Nepal: Boudhanath”

Nepal: Bhaktapur
So today I visited Bhaktapur. I took the bus and then walked around using the Lonely Planets guided walking tour. It took a good few hours and I did get a little lost every now and then, but it was still really fun! Along the way I saw houses that looked as if they wouldContinueContinue reading “Nepal: Bhaktapur”
Nepal: Patan
Patan, once a fiercely independent city-state just a few kilometers from Kathmandu, is now a superb area within the city. I chose to get a shared taxi which you sort of hop on/hop off like a bus. It was reasonably easy, with the only issue being finding one going in the correct direction in the first place. Once in Patan IContinueContinue reading “Nepal: Patan”
Nepal: Rest days in Pokhara
After my epic trek around The Annapurna Circuit, I thought that it would be a good idea to have some chill out days in and around Pokhaha. Basically I woke up late and visited various cafes and restaurants and sat reading and crocheting…the hardest decision that I have had to make each day was whichContinueContinue reading “Nepal: Rest days in Pokhara”
Nepal: The Annapurna Circuit
I have walked a very, very long way. A very long way!I worked it out to be 83.5 Miles in total walked, with an incline of 5014 metres (I was already 402 metres)…I’d say that was a pretty epic amble indeed. © Copyright 2005 – 2020, Exciting Nepal The map in the image block shows whereContinueContinue reading “Nepal: The Annapurna Circuit”
Nepal: The World Peace Pagoda
I swapped hotels this morning because the one that I was staying in was not suitable for holding my luggage whilst I trek: as in they would charge me for this service! I moved to a hotel that wouldn’t charge me. I moved instead to ‘Hotel Travel Inn’ which is posh by my standards. Plus I thoughtContinueContinue reading “Nepal: The World Peace Pagoda”
Nepal: Trekking fail
Today I thought I’d get up early and buy my boots and then do a little walk around the lake here and up the hill to the World Peace Pagoda, but it didn’t really go to plan! At first I didn’t want to get up as the duvet was so warm and the room quite cold. Then I finally did get up and out ofContinueContinue reading “Nepal: Trekking fail”
Travelling to Pokhara
Despite planning to go from the border to Lumbini and then travelling to Palpa and THEN to Pokhara, I actually decided to go straight to Pokhara. This decision was largely based on the fact that I only have a 30 day Visa and the trek that I want to do may take up to 21 days, so if I mess around sightseeing beforehand I might not get throughContinueContinue reading “Travelling to Pokhara”
Travelling to Nepal
I had decided to take a ‘Tourist Bus’ to the Sunauli border and walk across into Nepal. The first obstacle of the day (as usual) was getting an auto-rickshaw driver who actually knew of the place that I wanted to go. Once this was sorted, it was mostly plain sailing from then on. I got to the office of ‘Paul Travels’ (no really, that’sContinueContinue reading “Travelling to Nepal”
